During analysis, several compensation matrices may sometimes be accumulated. Often, some aren't needed and overaccumulation clutters up the workflow. Here are the two guides, one for Macintosh and one for Windows, of how to remove compensation matrices.
Macintosh version 8
- save your workspace as XML (from file menu)
- open your xml workspace with TextEdit (hint: cmd+spcbr and type in textedit)
- do a text search for "CompensationMatrices"
- look at this screenshot of the text segment that contains compensation matrices:
- in the above screenshot, there are two compensation matrix. To help you differentiate between the two, I selected one in blue, below:
As you see, the compensation matrix starts with <CompensationMatrix..> and ends with </CompensationMatrix>. You can safely select and trim out the matrices you do not want this way. Save your file, and you'll be able to open it in FlowJo, without unwanted matrices.
Important: When saving this modified document, be sure not to save it with a .txt extension. If you cannot open your FlowJo workspace after saving it from TextEdit, try renaming the file with a ".jo" suffix and double-clicking it while FlowJo is running.
Windows Version 7
In your workspace window, open the Comepnsation Editor from the Windows menu. It looks something like this:
Notice near the "1" area, there is a list of compensation matrices. Click on a comepnsation matrix, then click the "-" button to remove it.
I have flowjo 8.8.7 and I use it on MAC 10.6.8.
Is there an easier method to elimate the unused matrix?
thank you
